Game rules of «Piterskie skachki»

The basic differences from usual preference are the following:

  • Only four players play in «Piterskie skachki».
  • The game consists of four semesters.
  • Each semester begins with an obligatory progressing «All pass» round with the progression 2-4-6-6-6...

Conditions of the semester end:

  • 22 points are gained in the pool.
  • If «All pass» round is played then the semester goes on until the exit from «All pass».
  • The exit from «All pass» is any whisted and played game.

Obligatory «All pass» round are played in the following cases:

  • After not played Misere:
    • One trick in Misere – «All pass» round with 2 points for each trick in the mountain,
    • Two tricks - 4 points,
    • Three and more tricks – «All pass» round with 6 points.
  • After not made 9 tricks contract which outranked Misere:
    • 9 tricks contract without one trick – «All pass» round with 2 points,
    • Without two tricks – 4 points,
    • Without three and more tricks - «All pass» round with 6 points.
  • After not made 10 tricks contract which outranked Misere:
    • 10 tricks contract without one trick – «All pass» round with 2 points,
    • Without two tricks - 4 points,
    • Without three and more tricks - «All pass» round with 6 points.

«Prizes» are written after the end of each semester:

  • A player who was the first who reached the agreed size of the pool - writes 300 whists on each opponent, and the player with the minimum mountain writes 200 whists on each opponent.
  • According to the pool the prize will be taken by the player who is the first to gain 22 points (the prize IS NOT SHARED). If at the moment of the semester end the minimum mountain of two or more players is equal then the prize for the minimum mountain is shared equally between them.
  • Two or more players can gain simultaneously 22 (or more) points in «All pass» round. In that case the prize is awarded to the first player sitting clockwise, starting from the dealer.

After the end of four semesters a final pool and mountain is calculated for each player and additional prizes in whists are recorded:

  • For the maximum pool - 300 whists on each opponent.
  • For the minimum mountain - 200 whists on each opponent.
  • If several players have simultaneously the minimum mountain or the maximum pool then the prize is shared between them equally.

There are additional rules in a game «Piterskie skachki» in comparison to the «Peter» convention:

  • When remise whists are doubled and written on the declarer.
  • It is possible to whist all games including 9 tricks contract.
  • 6 spades contract is whisted by all means – «Stalingrad».
  • Undertrick «without three, without whists» - is not possible.
  • Semi-responsible gentlemen's whist.
  • If whisting is «open» then the cards are open before the first lead of the declarer. The first lead of the first hand when Misere is done «close».
  • When two whisting players on 8, 9 and 10 tricks contracts – both wishting players are responsible equally.
  • A player who didn’t take any tricks during «All pass» round writes (at his choice) either points in a pool equal to the cost of one trick or writes off points from the mountain for two tricks.
For example, at «All pass» round 4 points are written in the mountain for each trick – or 4 points in a pool or 8 points from the mountain.
  • Points for any non-whisted 8, 9, 10 tricks contract or clear Misere can be (according to the declarer’s choice) written in a pool or written off from the mountain double sized.
